Former Teacher & Librarian to Open Independent Book Retailer
In January, the Downtown Raleigh Alliance announced that Christine Brenner, a former teacher and school librarian, will be opening a children’s bookstore called “Read With Me“, hopefully in March of 2017.
The store will be located at 111 E. Hargett Street, Suite #110, in between Briggs Hardware and Arrow Haircuts, less than one block from Marbles Kids Museum.
Brenner noted in the press release that she is opening the store as a result of seeing a need “for a place in downtown for families to experience together,” also noting that Read With Me, “will be a place for everyone to share their love of children’s books.”
According to the press release, Read With Me will also hold writing workshops, book clubs, and illustration classes. The store plans to participate in the Downtown Raleigh Alliance‘s First Friday Art Gallery Walk and exhibit illustrators.
More Downtown Raleigh Retailers to Come
In anticipation of opening, Brenner launched an IndieGoGo campaign to help raise necessary start-up funds and gather community support. Read With Me is one of nearly 20 new businesses – including six retailers – that are expected to open in downtown Raleigh in 2017.
