“Pick Me”, a children’s book by author Bobbie Asad, is set to launch Saturday, Sep. 19, at 11:00 a.m. at Mad Hatter in Fuquay-Varina (107 S. Main Street)!

After entertaining with her earlier books “Mad Hatter Tea Society” and “Tucker’s Story”, Asad wrote her recent book with appealing illustrations to entertain children in a heartwarming tale this time.

The story is based on the life of a Belgian Malinois puppy named ‘Truman’ that lives in an animal shelter; her hope is to be adopted. The shelter keeps the animals only for a week due to lack of space, as there is increasing number of animals ending up at the shelter. Truman is adopted before her one week is over. The book heartwarmingly describes the journey of the puppy right from an animal shelter to getting adopted.

Described through the eyes of the young puppy, this story has received five-star reviews from Reader’s Favorite, “I especially appreciated the expression on Truman’s face as she meets her new mommy and ventures out into the world.”

While the theme is poignant and highlights the hopes and dreams of countless shelter dogs waiting for their chance at a home and family, “Pick Me!” is an upbeat and inspiring tale. Asad’s story is simply and eloquently written, and it is perfect for read-along sessions as well as for new readers. “Pick Me! is highly recommended,” wrote Jack Magnus from Reader’s Favorite.

Laurie Allen has filled this story with wonderful pictures through her vast imagination. The Reader’s Favorite review also and especially mentioned Laurie Allen’s work on this book saying she has brought the story to life. The book is available on Amazon for purchase in Kindle and Paperback formats.

$1.50 of every book sold at Book Launch will be donated to the Harnett Animal Welfare Coalition.
