Capital Run Walk of Cameron Village is holding their annual Monster Dash 1 mile fun run and 5k race on Sunday, Oct. 26.
Last year over 700 runners signed up for this event that has become a staple on the weekend before Halloween. Sandy Roberts led all finishers in 15:26, while Kimberlie Meeker won the female title in 17:30 – a new course record for the women. The men’s course record is held by Joe Moore (14:50) which he set in 2011.
The race and the other activities will be held near the intersection of Woodburn Road and Clark Avenue.
The 100-yard Monster Dash will start at 1:45 pm at the intersection of Clark Avenue and Daniels Street followed by the mile at 2 pm and the 5K at 2:30 pm. Both the mile and the 5K will start near the intersection of Woodburn Road and Clark Ave.
The entry fees for the 5K are $30 for adults ages 18 and older and $20 for youths 17 and under. For the mile, the fees are $20 and $15, respectively. All fees increase by $5 after October 15.
The Monster Dash is also the fifth event in the ten-race Second Empire Fall 2014 Grand Prix Series. Runners who participate in these races accumulate points and are awarded money and prizes at an awards banquet held at the Second Empire Restaurant at the conclusion of the Series.
