Wrapping up our three-part {Trend Report} series on Fall 2013 fashion for men and women from Belk {Across NC | online}, today’s we’ll take a look at what this upcoming season’s “Style Statements” are for the ladies.
As I mentioned earlier this week, Belk was kind enough to invite me to a trend forecasting session with their Vice President of Trend Merchandising and Fashion Direction, Arlene Goldstein a few weeks ago. Any Thursday morning that starts with hanging out with Arlene and getting a sneak peek at her favorite styles and trends for the upcoming season is a good one!
“Style statements” are what I like to define as the “look of the season”. Their naming and styling give you an idea of what on-trend dressing for the season look like and can give you and idea of how to update your existing wardrobe with the Top 10 Must Haves (for men, for women) to achieve the style statement, without totally blowing up your bank account.

Although my look tends to vary from classic to glam (day to night, if you will), my favorite style statements by far this season are the “Glam Globetrotter” (mixing a bold print dress with even bolder military-inspired jacket and boots or stilettos), the “Just Dandy” (solid pant or houndstooth, herringbone, or other print pant with solid button down shirt and nude heels… warmed up with a jacket), and a little bit of what Arlene referred to as the “glitz before six”… looking glam well before the day turns to night.
