{You’re Invited} Beleza to Host Special Sale of Fair Trade Hand-woven Rugs

Thinking floor coverings? Think fair-trade!

One of my favorite Cameron Village destinations, Beleza {Raleigh | online}, will be hosting a special three-day tent sale of fair trade hand-woven rugs from Istanbul this weekend. These pieces are only available locally during this special collection visit to Raleigh as part of private United States retailer tour.

The showcase event of hand-woven rugs from Istanbul, created by one the boutique’s featured artisan groups, will run from Friday, August 5, 2011 through Sunday, August 7, 2011.

These unique pieces have been collected from different villages around Turkey and other regions of the Orient. Each piece is hand-made and vegetable dyed. Rugs as small as 3’’x5’’ are available as well as area rugs up to 12’’x16’’. Runners and round pieces will also be featured in the collection. Colors and style vary by piece but the collection will incude Ottoman Oushaks, Old Kayseris, Sultanabads, Herekes, special Caucasian and Anatolian nomadic pieces, Turkomans and many more styles. Materials used to make these rugs also vary by piece; some woven of pure silk, others are silk and wool, wool on cotton, or one hundred percent wool.

The event will take place at the store, located at 2014 Cameron Street. The collection will be available for viewing and purchasing from 10:00am until 7:00pm, on Friday and Saturday and 1:00pm until 5:00pm on Sunday. Credit cards will be accepted.
