Shorts and capris should be chosen to fit your body, as well as your lifestyle. The following four points should help you in your hunt for summer shorts and capris that can become staples in your closet for many more warm seasons to come!.

1. Capri’s are generally suitable for most business casual attire. Capri’s keep you staying cool and are a great option to show off your legs. Capri’s also are a flattering look for women that are plus size. Tip’s for buying capri’s:

  • purchase a style that has a flat front
  • tailor the short right above the knee
  • avoid wearing a belt in the loops
  • select a style that sits below the natural waistline

2. For Petite figure or women that are shorter than 5′ 3″ shorts should so some leg! Note the following in selecting a shorter short.

  • avoid booty shorts… those are best on the young
  • choose shorts that are a tighter fit on the waistline
  • no pleats or details/simple cuts are best
  • cuffs may shorten the line of the leg

3. Boyish figures should pay special attention the length of shorts

  • shorts should be a least 3 inches above the knee
  • relaxed styles are typically the most flattering
  • shorts should fitted on the hips and not loose
  • the best look for boyish figures is a pleated short

4. Lean body types may have the ability to wear many looks, but should still keep in mind just a few thoughts when selecting shorts.

  • avoid baggy shorts
  • if choosing shorts with pleats, make sure they are sewn down flat
  • no ruffles!
  • the best look for lean body types is shorts with cuffs

This season you will find blossom short that are snug in the waist and loose in the thighs and military styles with cuffs and utility pockets to be the biggest trends.

A final thought: choose shorts to fit your lifestyle and activity and complement your skin tone. Be sure to look at your back end in the mirror!
