Cameron Village Happenings

On Monday, we stopped in and spent sometime with the always lovely Sara Dail, co-owner of Beleza… a fair trade boutique. We snapped some pictures for the store’s May eNews, chatted about the Men’s Night Out (and Kids, too!) shopping event coming up on Monday, May 3rd for Mother’s Day, and of course… talked shop!

I asked about the massive blue tarp obscuring the facade of the building across from Beleza that houses other Cameron Village favorites, like Cat Banjo, and Sara noted that Priscilla of Boston will be going into that location. We wondered if it will be a two story bridal boutique, which totally makes sense for the amount of space that wedding gowns can take up.

We also got to chatting about whether Cafe Caturra was going in next to Cameron Bar & Grill or over by The Fresh Market. They are in fact going next to Talbot’s, the space near Cameron Bar & Grill is just for interviews during construction, etc.

I actually stopped in and chatted with the team at Cafe Caturra (I’m a wine fan, so this was right up my alley) and they were kind enough to tell me a little about the business and let me snap a few pictures of the work being done. When it’s finished in the coming weeks, it is going to be a beautiful addition to Cameron Village which will include a simple and refined outdoor dining and wine enjoying area (with indoor/outdoor fireplace!) and inside doesn’t disappoint either.

The restaurant and wine bar menu features ten whites, ten reds, and five sparking/dessert wines… and some tempting food to boot. It is a concept that was founded in the Richmond area, grew to include three locations, and the owner picked Raleigh for his fourth. All are still owned by the same original person.

I for one am looking forward to more wine by the glass establishments – and this one certainly offers a menu I’m more excited about than the former Cameron Village concept, The Grape. You can check out PDFs of their menus online!

On the green front, the Scrap to Sculpture exhibit that includes various pieces scattered across Cameron Village is NOT to be missed. It never ceases to amaze me just how talented some of our local artisans are — and you know that I love the emphasis on turning trash to treasure!

Happy Shopping!

“In Raleigh’s Cameron Village, The Athlete’s Foot  is doubling its space by moving to the former Talbots Men’s spot. … Ladies fashion boutique Madison will take over the Athlete’s Foot spot in July. …And ladies fashion boutique Fedora will open a fourth area store in the former Fleur space in early August. That will follow the opening of the third Fedora in Apex on Saturday at 123A N. Salem St.”
