My First “Mom Jeans” – Thank You, The Flourish Market

I recently became the mother of a perfect six pound, eight-ounce little boy named Elias. Last week he turned a month old and I finally got the courage to do some shopping for myself.

I’m the third person from the left wearing The Flourish Market Skinny Pull-on Denim. My husband is on the end, in the hat, holding our son, Elias.

“Mom Jeans”

Everyone has an image in mind when they think about “mom jeans,” and I was doing anything I could to avoid this look but wanted to find a pair of jeans to fit my post-baby body.

A neighbor of mine had mentioned to me that The Flourish Market had jeans with an elastic waist that I had to check out. Needless to say, I went the next day!

Background on The Flourish Market

The Flourish Market - grand opening in downtown Raleigh

Lisa Jeffries, iheartretail.com founder, has covered The Flourish Market in the past but here is some quick background information on the store.

After 14 months as a fashion truck, The Flourish Market set up permanent roots in Downtown Raleigh in November 2016. The store is located at 713 Tucker Street and offers customers the opportunity to use their purchasing power for good.

Each of the 40+ brands carried at The Flourish Market help provide dignified jobs to vulnerable people in developing nations as well as in the United States. Owner Emily Sexton has curated a gorgeous selection of women’s clothing and accessories as well as gifts for babies to grandpas, all of which help to spread dignity across the globe.

My Experience

As I said, I was determined to find some denim that looked good but was comfortable. Upon entering The Flourish Market, I was blown away by the selection they had! I was expecting a small store with a few items, but as the description says, they have something for everyone.

I described what I was looking for to a very helpful woman at the store and she pointed me to their Skinny Mid-Rise Pull-On Denim Jeggings.

The description online says, “Looking like a million bucks doesn’t need to cost it. Introducing our new Skinny Mid-Rise Pull On Denim Jeggings. Using high-powered body shaping denim, we’ve created a jegging that you’ll feel great in. An intentionally slimming leg fit with our signature pull-on stretch waistband allows for belly comfort. Featuring real pockets, faux fly detail, and fabulous distressing – they’re really irresistible. We’re not here to replace your favorite jeans (though we might), but rather bring you a pair that you feel like a million bucks in.”

The reason I grabbed the description from the website is I really couldn’t describe them any better myself. I love the pull-on stretch waistband. It is super comfortable but extremely flattering. You cannot tell that they do not have a button or zipper. They are also very slimming without feeling tight. I like the distressed look of the pants, and for just $53.00, they are hard to beat!

Though I bought them as my first pair of “mom jeans,” they are anything but that! I would recommend them to anyone looking for a comfortable, flattering, affordable, pair of pants. They also come in denim, which I plan to go back and get.

On top of getting the jeans, I found a few sweaters that I loved. Everything I picked out at the store was very original and made of high-quality materials.

I happened to stumble in at the perfect time because they were celebrating their one year anniversary. I got to pick out a gorgeous bracelet and pair of earrings for free. It pays to shop local!
