Retailers and Restaurants Partner for Downtown Raleigh Restaurant Week

After eight years, downtowners have a pretty good idea of what to expect during Downtown Raleigh Restaurant Week. Dozens of local restaurants offer three-course prix fixe meals for either $20 or $30, and some will include $5 or $10 lunch specials. But, as the saying goes, expect the unexpected. The Downtown Raleigh Alliance is bridging the gap between restaurants and retailers by adding retailers to the Downtown Raleigh Restaurant Week menu.

For one night only, on Friday, August 19, participating local retailers will extend their hours until 9 pm so you can “Dine + Shop!”

You’re already going to be downtown to grab a bite to eat, right? So why not check out one of the many locally owned shops and boutiques. To say downtown Raleigh has an eclectic selection of retailers would be an understatement. The retail scene includes everything from art galleries to an apparel shop that considers itself a “misfit mercantile.”

The 15+ participating venues will offer specials ranging from free drinks to deep store discounts. For instance, Lee Hansley Gallery is offering wine and cheese for their guests and 10%-30% off artwork in the gallery. Devolve Moto is offering 10% off all retail, plus $3 and $4 North Carolina beers.

Downtown Raleigh Restaurant Week is always the third week of August; this year from Monday, August 15 through Sunday, August 21. It’s the end of the summer, kids are headed back to the classroom, and all of that drives business down for restaurants, and retailers, too.

Restaurants are offering three-course prix fixe dinners for $20 or $30 per person, and some are offering $5 ort $10 lunch specials during the day.

In addition to “Dine + Shop,” the Downtown Raleigh Alliance is adding one more option into the mix for Restaurant Week. They’ve partnered with Taste Carolina Gourmet Food Tours to bring you afternoon and evening guided food tours.

So, mark your calendars for Friday, August 19. Make a reservation at a great local restaurant, and plan on spending a little more time downtown to check out one of the many local retailers where you can find unique Raleigh items that you won’t find anywhere else.
